The
Department of Biomedical Engineering has extensive computing and
videoconferencing facilities which provide an efficient environment
for teaching and which fulfill departmental requirements for administrative
computing as well as remote conferencing and collaboration. These
facilities include a departmental server, a computational teaching
laboratory, and various videoconferencing facilities on both the
Morningside and Health Sciences campuses.
The
departmental server (SUN Enterprise 250) provides file sharing services
for all faculty and staff and hosts the departmental webpages and
calendar server. The computational teaching laboratory provides
computing resources to the deparmtent's undergraduate students as
well as a state-of-the-art electronic classroom complete with videoconferencing
facilities. Additionally, the department implements and maintains
videoconferencing systems ranging from person-to-person desktop
systems, to workgroup systems in laboratories, to high-end conference
rooms in Engineering Terrace and at the Health Sciences Radiology
Department in the Neurological Institute.
