Since freshmen year, Sylvia has been doing tendon and ligament tissue engineering and mechanobiology research with Drs. Savio L-Y. Woo and James H-C. Wang in Pittsburgh. As an undergraduate student, she was awarded the summer research fundings from Bioengineering department at the University of Pittsburgh and performed poster and oral presentations in Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Initiative (PTEI) 2006 Summer Intern Symposium. She received the membership of AEMB Biomedical Engineering Honor Society in 2006. Starting fall 2007, she continued her graduate study in Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University, working with Dr. Gordana Vunjak-Novakovic on micro-patterning and chondrocytes tissue engineering. In her spare time, Sylvia is a professional Pianist. She has been playing Piano for more than 15 years and won prizes of international Piano Competitions in Hong Kong and France. She also likes traveling and singing.
