Hi, it’s Shelby greeting here. I am a trained biologist and bio-engineer, born in China, “filtered and manufactured” in Singapore. My interest is to develop practical and cost-efficient applications of biomedical research, especially stem cell and tissue regeneration. In my previous research, I worked on chemotherapy drug delivery systems and cord blood stem cells expansion. Before I came to New York, I was a research associate in Cygenics Ltd, Singapore, focusing on translation research, and technology analysis. This job greatly exposed me to bio-industry world, but in my heart there is always a dream of further development in academy. So I came here, for PhD training in cardiac tissue engineering. I like to describe the graduate study as a stem cell development process. The students have multiple potential. To succeed, we need strong intracellular motivation. And we are sensitive to the environment, to a certain extent: we are shaped by the people around us. Luckily here I found my “niche”. Beside the study, I am a passionate fan on art and history, and good cyclist.
