On Friday, April 15th @ 11:00AM ET, we welcome Prof. Bryan Bryson from MIT as he presents, "Engineering the host-pathogen interface."

ABOUT THE SEMINAR

Engineering the host-pathogen interface

Infectious diseases remain one of human health’s greatest challenges. The Covid-19 pandemic is direct evidence of this. New treatments and interventions for infectious diseases are hampered by several factors including pathogen evolution, drug resistance, and the inherent challenges with studying highly contagious, virulent pathogens. To address these challenges and others, we have developed a suite of wet-lab and computational tools suited to investigate the host-pathogen interface during infection.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Bryan Bryson, Ph.D., Esther and Harold Edgerton Assistant Professor of Biological Engineering, MIT

Bryan Bryson is the Esther and Harold Edgerton Assistant Professor of Biological Engineering at MIT and a member of the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT, and Harvard. Bryan completed his undergraduate studies at MIT in mechanical engineering before obtaining a PhD in biological engineering also at MIT. After graduate school, Bryan went to the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health where he trained with Sarah Fortune and became interested in new approaches to examine host pathogen interactions in TB infection. Bryan started his lab a little over three years ago where his lab focuses on bridging quantitative approaches to understand how the immune system eliminates deadly pathogens.
