Henry Hess and Neda Bassir Kazeruni receive provost grant for innovative teaching

Apr 26 2016
The department is proud to announce that Professor Henry Hess and his PhD candidate Neda Bassir Kazeruni received a competitive grant to aid in developing innovative learning experiences for their students.

The Provost’s Hybrid Learning Course Redesign and Delivery Program chose to fund Hess’s proposal because of its potential to help assess the effectiveness of innovative designs, delivery methods and learning strategies with the goal to improve instructional delivery and learning outcomes of Columbia University students from all disciplines. Less than half of submitted proposals were funded.

The grant will support the redesign of BMEN E4580: Fundamentals of Nanobioscience and Nanobiotechnology to be taught in Spring 2017. The course is intended for senior undergraduate and junior graduate students, including MS students from the Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Biotechnology programs.
