Student startups win at VentureWell DEBUT competition
Two Columbia BME undergraduate student teams have won a combined $20,000 at the 2016 VentureWell Design by Biomedical Undergraduate Teams (DEBUT) challenge.
CerVIA and Cathecare were both founded by recent graduates in the Senior Design course led by Professor Aaron Kyle. The DEBUT challenge aims to acknowledge undergraduates working towards innovative healthcare solutions.
The CerVIA team, Jahrane Dale, Olachi Oleru, Ritish Patnaik, and Stephanie Yang, developed a system for automated cervical cancer screening. You can check out more about their startup, Luso Labs.
The CatheCare team, Aonnicha Burapachaisri, Charles Pan, Aishwarya Raja, and Chanond Sophonpanich, created a device to prevent bacteria colonization on central venous catheters (CVCs).
