The prestigious Goldwater Scholarships have been awarded to three Columbia Engineering students. Juniors Pablo Buitrago, Will Specht, and Clara Victorio were among the five Columbia undergraduates recognized for excellence in the fields of mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering. The Goldwater Foundation provides scholarships to sophomores and juniors pursuing degrees in these fields, deemed critical to the future of the nation.

The Goldwater Scholarships are named in honor of Senator Barry Goldwater, who spent 30 years in the U.S. Senate. For the 2024-2025 year, scholarships were awarded to 438 students from an estimated pool of 5,000.
